Amateur Astrophotography from the Black Forest, Germany

Welcome

Welcome to my non-commercial Homepage. I am an Amateur Astrophotographer, living and imaging from the Black Forest, Germany. I have started visual astronomy about 20 years ago, nowadays I am mainly interested in taking images from Deep-Space Objects. On this page I would like to share my experiences and encourage exchange among us astrophotographers. Below you will find my gallery and the guestbook. Please post any comments or questions there.

A star tracker as the main mount? A heavy payload test of the Skywatcher Star Adventurer gti

NGC 2264: The Christmas Tree Cluster and some improvements to the ZWO AM5 mount

First attemp with a Mono-Astronomy-Camera: What results can you expect?

An interesting test of an affordable alternative to the Celestron 0.7x Reducer for an EdgeHd

Here I want to share my experiences of an affordable alternative for reducing the focal length and the f-ratio of an corrected SC-Telescope (Celestron EdgeHd, Meade ACF...).

Spoiler: It works surprisingly good

A really heavy payload test of the new ZWO AM3

What is possible with a MONO Camera in one night? IC 443 and NGC 2174

A truly independent test of the ZWO AM5 mount

Imaging with a Color-Camera under heavy light pollution with a "Nebula-Booster" Filter

In this short review I want to share my experiences with the Hutech IDAS NB1 Filter using my f/2 RASA8 Telescope and a One-Shot-Color-Camera under heavy light pollution

Reasonable Results with only about 2 hours of integration time? Fast Imaging with an f/2 Scope

Hello Gustavo and thank you for your message,

that's a very good question and I have to answer that I actually didn't manage to reach the 0.64x with it either, I should add that to my report. I wasn't able to verify this because of the lack of reports, but your message has given me the conclusion that the reducer on an SCT brings different results than on an RC telescope. On an 8" RC telescope, the reducer has exactly 0.67x with a backfocus of 85mm. On my Celestron EdgeHD8 with a 2030mm focal length, I get a focal length of 1520mm according to Asiair's plate solving. This means that the reducer has the effect of 0.75x I thought that was a miscalculation on the Asiair, but combined with your experience I have to say that there are differences when used on an SCT.
Have you already tried to minimize the backfocus?

Best regards

Pascal

Hello,
Very nice images.
How did you manage to achieve and 0.67x reduction with the TS-CCD47?

With a Meade ACF 8inch (FL:2030mm) and 85mm extension I only get 0.8x and new FL:1600mm

Thx
